ESL Station activities to teach P1 grammar
Переглядів 3815 місяців тому
Station activities, mixed with pair work, and CLT techniques becomes a very powerful ESL tool. In this clip students are rotating around tables. Each table has a different grammar point to practice and different vocabulary words. The teacher needs to have great classroom management and a slow, methodical way of introducing and reviewing each activity in advance of this.

Thank you for your comments.
Hi sir From india Want to know how to explain children when the letter y becomes or sound like i. Also pls Rply my question on your other videos Thank you
That's taught as an alternative spelling in stage 2. Just teach exactly the same as you would a normal sound. Just explain its another way of teaching the /ie/ sound. Watch my video on alternative spellings.
You are the best teacher. Thank's alot
Thanks for your comments.
Hi Can you pls explain why in the word eve the letter e and v is not sounding separately
The final/e/ is acting as a "magic e", making the short /e/ make a long /ee/ sound. I hope this answers your question.
Man, I'm loving your videos, thank you soo much.
My pleasure. Thanks.
You are best teacher
Thanks

Can you please tell me the difference of sounds in Due / true Why true pronunced as oo not u ?
The word 'due' is the same as the Jolly phonics sound that is pronounced /you/ - as in the word 'Tuesday '. It has a /y/ sound in it. The word 'true' uses /ue/ as a long /oo/. They are slightly different, and a little confusing I know.
@@JayRichardsonEACschool so there how can j differentiate? Is there is a rule or something True- clue - flew - blue Can we say when there is two constants before it the its pronounced as oo ??
As far as I know there is no rule. This does not mean there is no rule I just do not know about it. The long /oo/ sound is most common. However in a case like this which happens quite a lot in English I generally just create lots of examples and ask the kids to practice listening to the difference not memorizing spelling rules.
Hello I am one of your subscriber making notes of phonic reached lesson numb 9…your videos are wonderful Thank you

You need to buy an external microphone, Jay. Your room has too much reverb, which may make the sound unclear.
Yes, I am not a professional You Tuber, just using my office to create useful content. Better equipment on the way soon I think.

Very good. It's helpful
Would this be a very useful reference for teens, too?
For teens learning I recommend my video series "Phonics lesson 1" which goes up to lesson 13. Far more useful.
@@JayRichardsonEACschool Oh, OK. So where's the link?
@@PrinceKMoney706 go to the playlists on my channel, you'll find the phonics lessons there. Good luck and enjoy.
I've a doubt.
How may I help alleviate your doubt? What is the doubt you have?
@@JayRichardsonEACschool sir y dnt we use s when we hear sss sound instead of c eg: Centimetre, Cinema, danCe, fenCe . Is there any rule behind it? Because my students are getting confused in this part.
@@keekeeandco3042 generally the sound of the letter c is a hard sound the same as the letter k. I always teach his first and get the students confident using those sounds as a hard consonant. Light on in the syllabus when the students are comfortable they can learn that c has a soft sound as well. Simply take this as an alternative spelling to the letter s as a separate unit do not mix up the sounds at the same time as you will indeed confuse your students.
@@JayRichardsonEACschool ok sir thank you so much for your answer.
Do you have insta account sir ?
Would you make the same video but with phonics symbols , it is difficult to connect them together,it would be helpful 🌹
Thank you for your comment but I don't use the phonic symbols in my training as I am using Jolly Phonics here which does not use that system
Thank you
You're welcome

But hey! *Fun Fact:* When the Letter 'X' appears at the VERY beginning of a word, it starts acting like a Z and makes the "zzz" sound. e.g.: 'xylophone'
That's correct
